overwhelming success. A large number of
local Hilton Head and nearby residents, participated in various
ways to the successful "First Allendale Kairos Walk" Kairos is prison ministry, and the difficulties
encountered in organizing a Walk are considerable if not
insurmountable. Just to name a single requirement to
facilitate a walk, is the baking of approximately 4,000 dozen
cookies which are transported to the prison, delivered in, hand
inspected by guards, and rebagged by the team, to be distributed to
the general population while the candidates selected by the prison
administration, are going through the Walk. There were too
many individuals to name, who deserve to be personally thanked,
however there is one group who must receive special
recognition. The young boys and girls of "Hilton Head Christian Academy,"
who sent hand written agape, obtained with the wisdom of
Upper School Principal Mr. Larry K. Green. The profound
effect upon the candidates was absolutely incredible, and a true
action "To Know Christ And To Make Him Known"
The Touch of the Master's Hand by Myra Brooks Welch Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer Thought it scarcely worth his while To waste much time on the old violin, But held it up with a smile. "What am I bidden, good folks," he cried, "Who will start bidding for me? A dollar, a dollar" --then, "Two!" "Only two? Two dollars, and who'll make it three? Three dollars, twice; "Going for three --" But no, From the room, far back, a gray-haired man Came forward and picked up the bow; Then wiping the dust from the old violin, And tightening the loose strings. He played a melody pure and sweet As sweet as a caroling angel sings.
The music ceased and the auctioneer With a voice that was quiet and low, Said what am I bidden for the old violin? And he held it up with the bow. A thousand dollars, and who'll make it two?
Two thousand! And who'll make it three? Three thousand, once; three thousand twice; And going, and gone!" said he. The people cheered, but some of them cried, "We do not quite understand What changed its worth?" Swift came the reply: "The touch of the master's hand.
And many a man with life out of tune, And battered and scattered with sin, Is auctioned off cheap to the thoughtless crowd, Much like the old violin. A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine; A game -- and he travels on. He's "going" once, and "going" twice, He's "going" and "almost gone." But the Master comes and the foolish crowd Never quite understand The worth of a soul and the change that's wrought By the touch of the Master's hand.

Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!) Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace, And saw, within the moonlight in his room, Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom, An angel writing in a book of gold:— Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold, And to the Presence in the room he said "What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head, And with a look made of all sweet accord, Answered "The names of those who love the Lord." "And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so," Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low, But cheerly still, and said "I pray thee, then, Write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night The angel came again with a great wakening light, And showed the names that God's love had blessed, And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
