Oak Marsh Plantation

This very nice middle income non gated plantation is located down the Spanish Wells corridor.  It is nicely sandwiched between Spanish Wells Road and the Intra - Coastal Waterway.  The homes closest to the marsh, and on the marsh are able to enjoy beautiful sunsets over the water.

News Flash By Town Of Hilton Head. Com staff reporters:  October 11, 2005  The board and a number of residents were organized by the current president of the board, Mr. Phil Smith, and after a meeting with HHPSD#1 at their offices mid island, a vote of the association was taken to establish whether the board could authorize PSD to proceed with bringing sewer to the plantation.  The board received approximately 17 affermative votes, many of which were made through proxy as opposed to approximately 11 who voted against the plan, citing either it was an unneeded expense at this time, or unaffordable.  A number of association members were not represented.  The board with the majority vote, then authorized the PSD  to proceed with an expenditure of approximately $200,000.00 which is to be presumably offset by the individual members of the Oak Marsh Plantation.  For the PSD to bring sewer to Oak Marsh, it was necessary for them to spend another approximately $300.000.00 for equipment which is not to be offset by the Oak Marsh residents.  To obtain this funding and the authorization to spend the approximate $500,000.00 a meeting of the PSD commissioners was convened a couple of weeks ago.  After the urging of one of the Oak Marsh Residents to temporarily table the motion, to allow the new Oak Marsh board to act after the annual meeting, the commissioners voted to proceed immediately citing that with the plantation's letter, and the desire to improve the island, was what ultimately resulted in the commissioners majority decision.
