World Of Warcraft - Tutorial

Written by Wierdone of Ysera Realm, Level 60 Warrior

When you are born as a warrior, you will be facing the Northshire Abbey.  You will be equipped with a sword, and a shield.  On the left of your screen over your function bar, you will see a icon that is your stance.  Your stance is a battle stance.  Under that is a sword.  The sword is your attack icon.  Clicking on the sword will cause you to attack, if you have a target selected.  To select a you must put your curser on what you want to attack and click.  Your curser will be in the form of a hand.  When you pass it across something which you are able to attack, it will change from a hand into a sword.  This indicates you can attack it.  Click on the target while your
curser is a sword, and it will highlight the target.  At this point
you can attack it, as long as you are within range.  If you are not within range, you must move toward the target, and when in range, you will be able to attack.  Along side of you sword, is an icon which is a heroic strike talent.  While you are engaged with your target, clicking on your heroic strike icon, will result in extra damage being inflickted on your target.  When you hold your curser over your heroic strike icon, it will display an information box on the right of your screen, telling you what happens, and what restrictions are applicable.

Using you arrow keys, you can press your left arrow key, and you will rotate left.  You can press your right arrow key, and you will rotate right.  You can press your up arrow key, and you will begin moving forward.  You can press your down arrow key, and you will begin moving backwards.  If you press your x key, you will sit down.  Press your x key again, and you will stand back up.  Press your z key, and you will remove your sword and shield from their stowaway position.  Press your
z key again, and you will stow them back into their stowaway position.  Press your space bar, and you will jump up into the air, and come back down.

Across the bottom of your screen you have 12 squares on the left side of two arrows.  I'll refer to these 28 squares as your primary shortcut grouping.  The square containing the two arrows, has an arrow pointing up, and an arrow pointing down.  To the right of the square with the two arrows, there are 16 squares.  On the left side we have already familiarized you with the sword (box 1) and heroic strike (box 2).  Box 11, from left to right, is your "every man for himself" icon.  When in battle, if you must retreat, your opponent will try to impair you from running, and you will click on this icon to remove
the impairment.  If you are able to remove the impairment, and successfully distance yourself from your opponent's range, before he able to inflict enough damage on you, to kill you, you will avoid being killed.  On the top left of your screen is an icon that shows a picture of you, along with a rectangle next to it.  You will see a one in between the picture and the rectangle, which designates that you are a level one.  In the rectangle you will see a green line that runs across the bottom of the rectangle.  This is your health line.  If you are sustaining any activity that causes your health to be reduced, this green bar will shorten.  If it disappears, you will die.  From left to right, on the bar across the bottom of your screen in the twelfth box, is the icon containing food.  It has beef jerky which you can access four separate times.  Each time you click on your beef jerky, you will sit down, and eat, which will replenish your
health more rapidly, than if you wait for your health to restore at it's normal rate of restoration.

On the first block to the right, is the icon of you.  Clicking on it
you will be able to examine yourself, and what you have in the way of clothes, armor, rings, weapons, etc.  You begin with recruit cloth pants (armor rating 2) a recruit shirt (no armor rating) recruit boots (no armor rating) a short worn sword, and a worn wooden shield (armor rating 5)

The second block to the right opens your spellbook/abilities.  Here you have the various things you are able to do.  You will be able to drag the one's you want available to you down onto your primary shortcut grouping for quick access and use. The third block to the right opens your record book of achievements.  The forth block opens your quest log.  You will refer to this often, to review things which you need to do, or accomplish.  The fifth block is your friends roster and helps you locate, and keep in touch with other players. The sixth
block over is the player vs. player block, which we will skip for now.  The seventh block to the right is a group lookup icon, which we will skip for now.  The eighth block to the right is the options menu, which you will use to log out.  The ninth block is the help tab, which is self explanatory.  And last, all the way to your right is a box which is your bag.  It has 14 compartments for holding things you get while you are going about your duties.
